Total dimensions of the three (3) pieces must not exceed 159in (405cm) and total dimensions of the two (2) pieces must not exceed 106in (270cm) with no one (1) piece exceeding 62in (158cm). Dimensions for checked baggage are calculated by adding together the width, height and depth of the piece of baggage.

Note: No Single item of checked baggage may exceed 70lb (32kg).

Children on international travel receive the same baggage allowance as adults.

Infants on international travel to/from The Americas receive an allowance of one piece with total dimensions not exceeding 45in (115cm), and weight must not exceed 22lb (10kg). Otherwise, USD50 heavy charge applies.

 AIR NEW ZEALAND

Longhaul international travel

When travel is entirely on Air New Zealand ticketed and operated flights, Air New Zealand baggage allowances and charges will apply and any additional charges will be based on your checked in journey on the day of travel.

When travel is on both Air New Zealand and other airlines including Air New Zealand codeshare flights, the baggage allowances and charges applied will be those of the carrier operating the longest sector in the checked in journey; this is known as the “Most Significant Carrier” (MSC).

The following allowances apply when Air New Zealand allowances and charges apply:

Any piece of baggage that weighs over 23kg but less than 32kg and/or exceeds the total linear dimensions (length + width + height) of 158cm (62”) will be subject to an overweight/oversize charge.

Any item over 32kgs (70lbs) will not be accepted as checked baggage and will require repacking.

All guests travelling on our international long-haul, international short-haul and domestic network are permitted to take up to 7kg of carry-on baggage on board.

Any checked baggage that exceeds these allowances will be subject to standard excess baggage charges and conditions.

JETSTAR

What you need to know

  • Our carry-on baggage weight limits are changing. Please read below carefully to make sure your bags are the right size and weight.
  • If you bring too many carry-on baggage items or if they exceed the weight or size limits at the departure gate, staff will insist that they be checked in. Charges may apply.
  • Be sure to remove restricted items and check liquid, gel and aerosol limits.

Weight limits for Economy passengers

Passengers travelling on Jetstar (JQ) flights

  • Economy passengers may bring one main item of carry-on baggage and one other small item, with a total combined weight of up to 7kg.
  • Any passengers who booked their flights on Jetstar (JQ) before 28th October 2014 may bring up to 10kg.

Weight limits for Business Class passengers

  • Business Class passengers may bring two main items of carry-on baggage, as long as each main item does not exceed 7kg, with a total combined carry-on baggage weight of up to 14kg.
  • Any passengers who made their flight booking before 28th October 2014 may bring up to 20kg

*Except for passengers who made their booking before 28th October 2014 who have a combined total weight of 20kg.

Carry-on baggage size

You may bring one main item and one small item as carry on baggage within the weight limits above. These items must also meet the size restrictions below.

 

Any piece of baggage that doesn’t fit with the requirements above will need to be checked-in. Charges may apply.

Each piece must be able to fit under the seat in front of you, or in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft.

The additional small item you bring on board could be:

  • A handbag,
  • Pocket book or purse,
  • Coat,
  • Umbrella,
  • Approved duty free goods (international flights only)
